J. Paul Lennon, STL, MA, LPC, founder of ReGAIN (Religious Groups Awareness International Network), was a Legion of Christ brother from 1961 to 1969 and an LC priest from 1969 to 1984. He received an MA in counseling from the Catholic University of America in 1989. After leaving the priesthood, he worked for 20 years as a child and family therapist in Arlington, Virginia. In 2008, he published a memoir, Our Father, Who Art in Bed: A Naive and Sentimental Dubliner in the Legion of Christ, which he updated 10 years later. Mr. Lennon has explored cult-like elements in bona fide Catholic orders and institutions, publishing Catholic Orders & Movements Accused of Being Cult-like in 2020. Bilingual/bicultural Spanish, he continues to support former members of coercive groups from his home in Guatemala.
