Last updated: 12 August 2025

Unless otherwise stated, all content on the International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA) website is protected by copyright (Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International). This includes articles, reports, videos, images, newsletters, and downloadable PDFs.

ICSA supports knowledge-sharing and believes in the free exchange of ideas, while also respecting the rights of authors and creators. This page outlines how our content may be used, and how copyright is handled across our publications.

Copyright ownership

ICSA content falls into several categories, each with its own copyright structure:

Academic Articles (IJCAM)
Authors retain full copyright of their academic work unless another agreement is made. By submitting to IJCAM, authors grant ICSA a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • Publish the article in print and/or digital formats
  • Promote and archive it as part of IJCAM
  • Distribute it via repositories, libraries, or indexing services
  •

Authors are free to reuse or republish their work elsewhere, provided IJCAM is credited as the original publisher.

Website articles and reports
Authors of articles and reports published on the ICSA website retain copyright to their work. They grant ICSA a non-exclusive license to publish, adapt for formatting or clarity, distribute, and promote the work across digital channels. Authors may republish the content elsewhere, with attribution to ICSA as the original source.

Creative Works (e.g., poetry, memoir, personal essays, artwork)
Creative contributors retain full ownership of their submissions. By publishing with ICSA, they grant a non-exclusive license to:

  • Publish and display the work online or in print
  • Promote the work through ICSA’s platforms and channels
  •

Translations or adaptations will only be made with permission and proper attribution.

Commissioned and Staff Work
Original content created by ICSA staff or under contract is owned entirely by ICSA unless otherwise stated in a written agreement. These works may be edited, adapted, or republished by ICSA at its discretion.
