Dieter Rohmann is a psychologist based in Munich, Germany, who has worked in cult recovery and exit counseling since the mid-1980s. In the early 1980s, he was involved in establishing and managing a project in Goa, India, supporting Western dropouts affected by drug dependency, mental health difficulties, and disillusionment with spiritual communities and cults. This work included counseling, crisis support, and coordination with Western embassies and consulates to assist with repatriation.
After returning to Germany in 1984, he began working as an exit counselor and cult-recovery consultant. He works exclusively with people who have left or are trying to leave cults, individuals born into cultic environments, those affected by spiritual or religious abuse, and partners and family members of people involved in cults.
His practice is informed by both professional training and lived experience.
